Having been born in Long Beach California in 1947, my family moved to the thriving metropolis of Pico Rivera, CA. at the age of one. I grew up and went to school there. The day after graduation, I started work for the Postal Service. I couldn't even go to the all night party !! There was a two year break in my employment to serve in the Army during the Viet Nam era. Within a week of returning from the military ,I was back at work with the postal service. I finally retired as an analyst/business troubleshooter in 2002.
During my last few years of work, I was fortunate to meet Ralph Freer, an excellent knife maker. Ralph and I became close friends. He offered to teach me the fundementals of knife making. I persevered and worked hard to learn from Ralph. After I retired, I became a full time knife maker. For the first time in my life, I found myself doing something I truely loved doing! I look forward to every day and constantly attempt to make each knife better than the one before while continuing to learn new and interesting things. There is always something new to learn or try out in the knife making industry. A part of who I am goes into every knife I make........ I have been in a number of blade shows and had my knives pictured in Blade Magazine, Knives Illustrated, and the Knives Annual. I've also conducted many workshops to help aspiring knife makers learn the ins and outs of knife making. It's a good life and has been very rewarding personally.
